Celebrate the Season

Fall is here. When I walk out the driveway to pick up the newspaper in the morning, the air is crisp, clean and cool. When I looked across our 20-acre field this afternoon toward the cottonwood tree line about a quarter of a mile away, I could see hints of yellow and gold, along with the green leaves.

Still, the temps are in the 70s and 80s, and the days are sunny and bright. It truly is time to celebrate the season. Our guests at Papa's understand this. From the moment they enter the patch, they head off for picture-taking or bale hopping or a casual stroll in nature. Over the weekend, I ran into a woman who was resting quietly while her children played on the bale maze. She seemed deep in thought so when I walked by, I only smiled and said, "you look very comfortable." She replied that she was enjoying the warmth of the sun on her back and an opportunity to just sit and be still. Not two minutes later, I watched a father bounding after his son and daughter, who were screaming in delight. They were loud and wild and having a blast.

All of these folks were doing what we hope they will when they come to Papa's Pumpkin Patch; they were celebrating the season. For a short moment in time, they were "away" from they crazy worlds and playing or resting in ours. For a brief period, Papa's allows all of us to celebrate life amidst the season of fall.

See you soon,

Papa
